I fell in love with yoga at the age of 17 and have been a devoted practitioner ever since my first class in our local university in 1973. I was still in high school but I was smitten and I have devoted my life to sharing this wonderful art and science with anyone who is interested.

I love to teach people to breathe and relax; it is a sure-fire way to bring peace and joy into people's lives.

Ila Sarley, Program Officer

Ila Sarley is a founding member of Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health and served as its president from 2004 through 2010, co-leading the organization in partnership with her husband, Patton Sarley, Kripalu’s CEO. Previously, she was director of marketing and communications at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies for over eight years.

Ila’s passion lies in integrating the curriculum and communications strategy of an institution with its mission and culture. She combines marketing strategy, program development, staff training, and brand coherency into a seamless whole, so that both internal and external participants in the life of the institution know what the institution stands for and can participate in a shared vision.

For the past 35 years, Ila and Patton have co-created ways for people to learn about yoga, health, and communications and have used the core principle of yoga-integrated functioning as a cornerstone for organizational and personal development. Ila has dedicated her life to the intensive study and practice of the science of yoga, communications, and organizational and business development in the field of holistic adult education.
